Just finally wandered over here and read this, and ha! Very much my thoughts! Though I seem to be immune to most of the dwarven charms of whatever sort, oddly enough. I *did* swoon at Galadriel's scenes, and was quite quite delighted with Aiwendil. "These are the rabbits of Rhosgobel--I'd like to see him try!" And the Necromancer's been set up quite nicely. I like how PJ's managed to expand our view a little, so that (having all seen the LOTR movies by now) we know what some of this is foreshadowing. PJ likes his goblins and his chase scenes and his dangling-over-cliffs a bit too much, but all in all I enjoyed it tremendously.
I, too, am looking forward to the Mirkwood parts and Thranduil and Thorin meeting (do we get Legolas? I think we do, and I want alllll the foreshadowing of Legolas/Gimli, man!). I also want Lobelia Sackville-Baggins at the end, though I doubt we'll get it.

Great full all around though, really.
