This is where I reveal my decrepitude

Listen, young padawan, as I tell you that I remember the original BBC Radio 4 broadcast which - living in Ireland - I had to tune in the wireless to longwave (so it was crackly and less than stellar audio reception) to hear it every Sunday at 6.30 p.m. :-)

Ian Holm played Frodo in that, so you can imagine my glee when PJ cast him as Bilbo in LOTR. The actors were all pretty much excellent casting and yes, the songs! Proper music! And Bill Nighy as Samwise Gamgee was marvellous - they were all marvellous, indeed. Good old Beeb :-)
