PJ's tendency to deviate wildly from the source--yes, that's what I'm worried about too. :P He does do some lovely scenes sometimes when he's not trying too hard to be original. Though there are a few extrapolations that I do like--the Rivendell scenes were well handled in this, I think. All the "tra-la-la in the valley" from the book wouldn't have gone well, I don't think. (I *so* wanted a ten-year-old Estel to pop up and meet Bilbo, though. :D)
